PROFILE
The tallest outfield player in the Premiership at 6ft 7in, Crouch signed for Liverpool from Southampton in July 2005, following Saints' relegation. Spent a year at St Mary's after joining from Aston Villa in July 2004. Began at Tottenham Hotspur but made his league debut with Queens Park Rangers before moving on to Portsmouth. Hit 18 goals for Pompey and was attracting a host of admirers before Villa paid £5million to snare him. Naturally a threat in the air, his fine close control also make him an able link-up player. Was handed a full England debut by Sven-Goran Eriksson against Colombia in May 2005 and finally got off the mark for his new club in the 3-0 home win over Wigan Athletic on December 3, 2005.
