Owen Hargreaves Profile

For many of the budding youngsters in the Bayern youth section, Owen Hargreaves is the perfect role model, the first home-grown player to work his way through the Junior Team ranks and establish a firm foothold in the first team. The hard-working, unassuming midfielder's meteoric rise saw him claim Champions League honours with Munich and become a regular for Sven Göran Eriksson's England, appearing at both the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 in Portugal. General manager Uli Hoeneß praised the utility man's flexibility: "He can play anywhere," the official enthused, a quality Felix Magath will have noted with interest.
