PROFILE
Signed for Arsenal in August 2006 on loan from Real Madrid as part of the deal which saw Jose Antonio Reyes go the other way. After scoring 38 goals from 63 appearances for Seville, he moved to the Bernabeu and made 45 appearances in the 2005/06 season. A strong and quick midfielder who can also play as a striker, Baptista was a member of Brazil's triumphant 2004 Copa America squad.
