PROFILE
An essential midfield presence for club and country with a knack for scoring spectacular goals. Athletic, forceful and creative, captain Gerrard is instrumental to Liverpool's success and he was voted PFA Player of the Year by his fellow professionals after a superb 2005/06 season. He made his Premiership debut against Blackburn Rovers in November 1998 and has already enjoyed much success at Anfield, culminating in lifting the European Cup for his home city in Istanbul in 2005. Has also emerged as one of England's key players and will doubtless be a fixture in the international side for years to come. Named in the Barclaycard Team of the Season 2003/04 and scored his 50th goal for the club in the Carling Cup tie against Crystal Palace in October 2005.
