PROFILE
Versatile defender who joined Chelsea from Hamburg in August 2006. Nicknamed 'Khalid the Cannibal' for his fierce tackling, he can play anywhere across the back-four. Began his professional career at RKC Waalwijk, where current Tottenham Hotspur coach Martin Jol gave him a chance. After two seasons for RKC he joined Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV at the start of the 2004/05 season before moving to the Barclays Premiership.
